Maine creates Respiratory Virus Dashboard, tracks flu, Covid
The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention has built a dashboard to track and understand the spread of respiratory viral illnesses in Maine, including influenza, COVID-19, and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Its graphs show recent viral activity and severity data for influenza, COVID-19, and RSV.
The dashboard is updated every Wednesday by 3 p.m.
Each graph shows data through Sunday of the last reported week. These weeks are based on weeks defined in the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (U.S. CDC) Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR).
The respiratory virus season starts the 40th MMWR week of the year and ends the 39th MMWR week of the next year, said the CDC. This typically means late September or early October to late September the next year.
As of Jan. 17, influenza levels in the state were classified as moderate; COVID-19: Low; and RSV: Very Low.
