Local middle school student to represent Maine at National MathCounts Competition

CAMDEN — Thor Gabrielsen, a sixth grader at Camden-Rockport Middle School recently qualified for the 2016 Raytheon MATHCOUNTS National Competition.
He was awarded an all expense paid trip to the nation's capital, Washington D.C., where he will represent the State of Maine along with three other teammates. It will be held at the Renaissance Washington, DC Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001 from May 7-10.
Only two others in the last thirty-one years had made the team on the first attempt, according to Maine MathCounts. Thor is studying pre-calculus, participates in the CRMS Math Team, is interested in data analysis, as well as playing four square.
