Linda A. Hodgkins, obituary
WEST ROCKPORT — Linda A. Hodgkins, 78, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, January 5, 2026, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
Born in Camden on September 18, 1947, she was the daughter of Lloyd and Goldie Genthner Light. She graduated from Camden High School, where she enjoyed participating in sports, especially basketball.
In the late 1960s, Linda had a chance meeting with Harold Hodgkins while visiting his sister's house. Two weeks later, they were married, just before he left for basic training and overseas service. In 1970 upon Harold’s return from the service, the couple made their home in West Rockport, where they have since resided.
Always active and eager to try new things, Linda took night courses while raising her children. She became a Registered Nurse and worked for several years at the Rockland Convalescent Center.
Later, Linda and Harold purchased a building in West Rockport where they owned and operated The Coffee Mug restaurant, with Linda serving as chief cook and bottlewasher. Pursuing her passion for crafting and scrapbooking, they converted the building into a craft store, Pen Ventures, which she operated from 1997 until recently, when her health no longer allowed her to work. Throughout her life, she was an avid crafter and stamper with an impressive button collection. A talented artist, she sold her drawings at craft fairs and in her store.
Linda's family said she never met a stranger. Throughout her life, she made many meaningful and lasting friendships through her business and the stamping community. She had a great sense of humor with a positive outlook on life. She loved to be silly and lighthearted and had deep compassion for others.
She will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Predeceased by a daughter, Barbara Chapman; her brother, Lloyd Light; her sister, Frances Mitchell; Linda is survived by her husband, Harold Hodgkins of West Rockport; her daughter Angela Reed and her husband Alan of Nobleboro; her son, Robert Hodgkins of Warren; her grandchildren, Joshau Willett, Joseph Willett, Kristin Willett, Harmony Payne and her husband Charles, Walker Reed and his fiancée Eve Corbett, Hannah Richardson and her husband Aaron, Noah Reed, Abigail Patten and her husband Marley, Averie Reed; several great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews and a large loving extended family.
