Lincoln Street Center to hold second open studios of the year
Lincoln Street Center will be opening its historic building to the public for the second open studios of the year, Saturday, July 12, from 12 - 4 p.m. The publicis invited to visit the artists and explore Rockland’s historic high school, home to more than 30 studio spaces, a 300 seat antique theater, and gymnasium.
"Where Louise Nevelson herself attended high school, and now a thriving art space, Lincoln Street Center is the “Art Capital of Maine’s” only artist building," said Lincoln Street Center for the Arts, in a news release. "The studio spaces and theater now face imminent threat due to economic pressures and lack of maintenance. Lincoln Street Center for the Arts, the organization formed to save it, is currently in the midst of an urgent campaign to fundraise a purchase of the property from the current owner."
This event is free and all are welcome.
Participating studios will include: Rachel Alexandrou and Sam James Levine (interdisciplinary & sign artists), Gianna Bird (book arts), Susan Beebe (paintings), Meghan Brady (paintings), Gary Briechle (photography), Vincent Carducci (oil paintings), Katherine Ferrier (quilting and fiber), Amy Wilder Files (encaustic), Kathleen Florance (paintings), Jonathon Frost (paintings), Nina Poole (multidisciplinary), Lena Schmid (paintings), Sarah Szwajkos (photography), Laura Waller (oil paintings), and more.
