Learn how to preserve food using boiling water bath method
WALDOBORO — University of Maine Cooperative Extension is offering a 3-hour Boiling Water Bath Canning course on Saturday, July 25, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m., at the Knox/Lincoln Extension Office, 377 Manktown Rd., Waldoboro.
This hands-on food preservation workshop taught by UMaine Extension staff and volunteers will teach the basic steps for canning with a boiling water bath canner. Topics covered will include recommended methods for preserving foods, the latest and safest recipes, equipment to ensure safety, and how to check for properly sealed jars. Participants will receive a "Preserving the Harvest" information packet and are asked to bring a potholder to the workshop, according to the Extension, in a news release.
The course fee is $25. Registration on the program webpage is required.
