Knox County grand jury indictments

    ROCKLAND — The Knox County grand jury indicted 40 defendants, for a total of 110 counts, during its recent three-day session that concluded June 9.  An indictment does not imply guilt.

    Daniel Bonneau, 42, of Rockland, aggravated assault in Rockland Dec. 2, 2021; domestic violence assault, two counts, and obstructing report of a crime in Rockland April 29, 2022.

    Raymond Bowman, 55, of Augusta, aggravated assault with a chainsaw, criminal threatening, terrorizing, and violation of condition of release, all in Washington March 28, 2022.

    Kaleb R. Campbell, 23, of North Haven, aggravated assault (using a handgun), elevated aggravated assault, terrorizing with a dangerous weapon, all on North Haven March 18, 2022.

    Stephen Craig Carleton, 25, of Rockland, gross sexual assault and aggravated assault, both in Hope Oct. 16, 2021.

    Hasahn A.     Christopher C. Hast, 32, of Rockland, 12 counts of gross sexual assault in Rockland during 2021.

    Hast was a Stockton Springs part-time police officer who was arrested Nov. 1, 2021, for allegedly assaulting a teenage girl several times during the past seven months.

    When he was arrested, Hast was charged with 12 counts of Class B gross sexual assault for offenses that police say began in April and continued until Oct. 27, 2021.

    According to the affidavit filed in court by Maine State Police Detective Christopher Crawford, the investigation of Hast began Oct. 29, 2021, after the victim reported the alleged sexual assaults to her school counselor.

    The victim said that Hast had sent her a Snapchat message about killing her mother so they could be together forever, according to court documents. He also shared sexually explicit internet links with the victim and also requested that she send him nude photographs, according to the court document.

    Police obtained a search warrant and seized Hast’s iPhone during the investigation.

    Hast denied the charges when he was interviewed by the state police detective.
