MAINE — Paintings by Kathryn Oliver will be on display at three Maine locations from December 1 - January 6.

The Sacred Garden is a collection of large paintings inspired by the stained glass windows and icons in the churches, cathedrals and museums Oliver visited in Europe. Those visits, in turn, “lead me down an unexpected path to study Byzantine Iconography,” said Oliver, in a news release.

Oliver is a visual artist living in Camden. Sacred stories, myth and metaphor has been an area of study and contemplation that she returns to throughout, in painting, photography, film and theater.

Sacred Garden paintings are on exhibit in three locations:

    First Congregational Church,
    55 Elm Street, Camden

    Lincolnville Community Building,
    18 Searsmont Rd, Lincolnville

    United Methodist Church,
    61 Pleasant St, Waterville
