Jay E. Carlson, obituary
BURLINGTON, Vermont and formerly of ROCKLAND, Maine — Jay Elmer Carlson, 48, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, September 23, 2021 in Fish Camp, California.
Born October 9, 1972 in Rockland Maine to Jay and Lisa (Small) Carlson, he was educated in local schools for some time before settling down in Vermont.
Jay worked as a manager for the Vermont Pub & Brewery in Burlington VT for 21 years, and was also a self-employed Financial Investor.
Predeceased by his mother, Lisa; his grandparents, Elmer and Dorothy Small, LeRoy and Agatha Carlson; and his uncle Timmy Carlson; he is survived by his father and step-mother, Jay and Julie Carlson of Kronenwetter
Wisconsin; his step-sisters, Ashley Frazell and her husband Brian of Searsmont, Maine, Lindsay Allison of Augusta, Maine, Jenna Chapiewsky and her husband Ryan of Stillwater, Minnesota, and Jakki Cummins of Bloomington, Minnesota; his aunts, Ivy Marriner and her husband Jeff of Thomaston, Maine, Jamie Merrifield of Owls Head, Maine, Carol Dahm and her husband Mike of Weston, Wisconsin, Nancy Ludwig and her husband Bob of Wausau, Wisconsin, Mary Strassberg and her husband John of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, and Jane Jackson and her companion David of Jasper, Georgia; his uncles, David Carlson and his wife Gloria of Wausau, Wisconsin, Larry Carlson and his wife Ann of Stevens Point, Wisconsin, Danny Carlson and Gayle Cherek of Weston, Wisconsin, Ned Carlson and his wife Laurie of Neillsville, Wisconsin, Randy Carlson and his wife Diane of Taos, New Mexico, Rodney Carlson of Wausau, Wisconsin; and his Godparents, Elmer and Sheila Witham of Owls Head, Maine who can’t be thanked enough for being there for Jay through his entire life and helping us through this tragedy.
Jay also leaves many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jay’s family would also like to extend their special thanks to the Ranger Service at Yosemite National Park, the staff at Tenaya Lodge in Fish Camp, California, and Sheila Witham from Owls Head, Maine for all their assistance. As well as to all of his friends in Burlington, Vermont and Rockland, Maine for their love and support.
A very warm and loving thank you to Joseph Williams for always being there for Jay.
A Memorial Service for Jay will be held Saturday, October 16, 2021, at 11 a.m., at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock St. Rockland, Maine. Burial will follow at Achorn Cemetery.
