On Friday, March 6, 2026, at 7 p.m., the Mid Coast Interfaith Alliance (MCIA) will bring together faith communities from across the region for an Interfaith Service of prayers for peace and justice. The service will be held at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 15 Wesley Lane, Rockland. The event is free and open to everyone in the community — "all are warmly welcome, regardless of faith or tradition," said Rev. Anne Roundy, in a news release.

The service is co-hosted by twelve congregations and spiritual communities representing a wide range of traditions — Adas Yoshuron Synagogue, Aldersgate United Methodist Church, First Congregational Church of Camden, First Universalist Church in Rockland, Friendship United Methodist Church, Nativity Lutheran Church of Rockport, Panacea Holistic Health, People's United Methodist Church, Rockland Congregational Church, St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Thomaston Federated Church, and True Heart Sangha of the Midcoast in Hope — many of whom have been working together across faith lines for decades.

"The Alliance has recently been reinvigorated by renewed and strengthened relationships among clergy leaders across the region, bringing fresh energy and deepened commitment to the coalition's long-standing mission," said Roundy, retired UCC and long term member of the MCIA.

"In these challenging times tormented by rancor and enmity, we call out for empathy, kindness and understanding," said Roundy. "This gathering reflects a shared local commitment to pursue peace, justice, and human dignity across all lines of belief.” 

According to the news release, the MCIA explicitly welcomes people of all faiths, spiritual traditions, and those of no religious tradition at all to this Interfaith Service.

Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit local organizations serving neighbors in need.

Refreshments will be served following the service.
