CAMDEN — The Midcoast is stepping forward to help Carrie Connors and the Hedstrom family recover from a devastating fire that took the life of their son, and destroyed her home. Here is how you can help:

Kea Tesseyman, a close friend of Carrie, said Feb. 26 that there are multiple efforts under way. Kea is posting updates on her Facebook page, and welcomes the public to visit it. For those not on Facebook, what follows is a synopsis.

“Please know that what is important for all of us to feel is the collective grief and love that is coming from our community that Carrie and the entire family feels,” she said. “Your messages, your strength, your pause and quiet support, your love and who you are in your own experience through this - all makes a beautiful vessel for the grieving to take place and space held for the family. Know you are acknowledged in your support."

“Please share this around,” said Kea. “The family has asked that anyone who’s asking to help by way of donating materials, supplies & furniture, to please consider donating here if you can as they are not in a position to receive any material items though they are grateful for the offers.”

    2. Donations to support the family can also be made directly at Camden National Bank care of: Carrie Connors Family Fund, (organizer Kea Tesseyman). The contact person at the Camden branch is Amy Pierce who you can reach out to if you have any questions about making donations.

    3) Anyone who wants to donate clothes, it would be most helpful if they were filtered through these groups, Sweet Peas Consignment (Laurie Boyer) and Bubbles and Beans (Andrea Palise). Contact them for questions on how to help with clothing.

    4) People are asking about donating furniture, bedding and kitchen supplies for a new home, and Kea advises to message her privately concerning those donations. Include a photo with a description of the item, along with contact information (phone and email).
