Hockey Weekly: From youth to pros, the week in hockey

Hockey is one of the biggest and fastest growing winter sports this side of basketball and we have a generous amount of hockey played in this state, much of which involves many of the youth of the Midcoast. The Maine Coast Skaters Association, with home ice at Midcoast Recreation Center in Rockport, is for kids of all ages. Local high school varsity team Camden Hills plays on MRC ice, as well as the club Ice Cats, which includes high school athletes from Knox and Waldo counties. Then there is college hockey and the Portland Pirates professional team. Hockey is a sport for Maine.
Every Monday the Pen Bay Pilot will do a feature story from the weekend of hockey games along with scores, recaps and news about hockey.
Coaches are encouraged to send results to ronhawkes@penabypilot.com. The weekly article is meant to help provide the best coverage possible of the sport of hockey.
