Helen L. Carver, obituary
OWLS HEAD — Helen L. Carver, 83, wife of the late Robert Linwood Carver, transitioned from her earthly home to her Heavenly home, Thursday, February 21, 2019.
Born in Rockland, August 20, 1935, she was the daughter of Forest R. and Mabel A. Emmons Pinkerton. Educated in local schools, she was a 1953 graduate of Rockland High School.
Helens’ first employment was with the First National Bank of Rockland, where she worked a few years.
Following her marriage to Robert, in Rockland, November 11, 1956, the couple moved to Hollywood, Florida. Helen busied herself there as a devoted homemaker, raising her three children.
In 1968, with her family, Helen moved to Bangor as Robert transferred with the A&P Grocery, to their Bangor location.
In 1977, the family moved to Owls Head after Robert purchased Carvers Market, which was located in the Block at Thomaston. She assisted her husband in the operation of that store until selling the business in 1989. Thereafter, Helen worked at Ames Department Store in Rockland, until her retirement in 2000.
For the past several years, Helen was an active member of the Owls Head Baptist Church. Even after mobility difficulties kept her from regular attendance at the church, she continued to serve by sending all occasion cards to members of that fellowship.
Other than her parents, Helen was pre-deceased by her husband Robert in 2012; her siblings, Agnes E. ‘Betty’ Russell in 2003, Alice Reed in 2009 and William Pinkerton in 2005.
She is survived by her children, Robert L. Carver of Bath, Glenn L. Carver of McMinnville, TN, Lucinda M. Carver of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Linda Fitzgerald, Sarah Carver, Glennda Remelius and Michael T. Carver; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Adreena Fitzgerald, Neveah Carver and Samantha Carver; many nieces and nephews, as well as extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, March 1, 2019, at Owls Head Baptist Church, 37 South Shore Drive, Owls Head. Interment will be at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Owls Head.
