Helen H. Stanley, obituary

ROCKLAND — Helen H. Stanley, 94, long time Owls Head resident, died peacefully, Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at Bella Point in Camden.

Born in Sargentville, October 10, 1924, she was the daughter of A. Wynes and Lucy Gray Haskell. Helen grew up in Sargentville and graduated from high school there.

In 1947 Helen moved to Rockland where she married Arthur Stanley. Together they welcomed two sons, Arthur, Jr. and David into the family. Later in life, Helen and Arthur, Sr. divorced but remained friends.

For many years, Helen was employed as a fish cutter at Stintson’s Fish Factory. She also served as a personal caregiver for two local women.

Helen took great joy in feeding the birds and was also an active member of Souls Harbor Church in Rockland. Later in life, she enjoyed the companionship of Larry Beckwith. Together they spent many hours riding all over
town, often feeding the birds at Snow Marine Park. They also enjoyed attending ‘country and western’ shows together.

Helen will be sadly missed by all who loved her.

Predeceased by her son David Allen Stanley and her brother George Haskell; Helen is survived by her son Arthur Stanley, Jr. and his wife Kitty of Owls Head; her granddaughters, Sherry Stanley-Keating and her husband Mike Keating, Michelle Stanley; and one great-granddaughter, Shelby Lynn Stanley-Keating.

A graveside service will be held Friday, October 18, at 11 a.m., at McPhail-Hix Cemetery, Owls Head.
