Ellsworth baseball squeaks past Belfast

BELFAST — The Belfast varsity baseball team hosted Ellsworth for a contest Thursday, May 9. 

The low-scoring contest was won by Ellsworth 3-2. 

With the loss, Belfast dropped to 5-3 on the season. 

Up next for Belfast will be a home contest Monday, May 13 against Mount View at 4 p.m.

Ellsworth plated a run in each the first, sixth and seventh innings. 

Belfast scored a run in each the fourth and sixth frames. 

Ellsworth recorded six hits and two errors. 

Belfast tallied four hits and committed a pair of errors. 

Working the mound for Ellsworth was Matt Burnett (seven innings, nine strikeouts). 

Chris Kelley pitched for Belfast and recorded two strikeouts in seven innings. 

Pacing the Ellsworth offense were Jackson Curtis (two hits, two RBIs) and Devin Grindle (two hits). 

Pacing the Belfast offense were Luke Hamlin (two hits).
