Medomak Valley baseball tops Belfast

BELFAST — The Belfast and Medomak Valley varsity baseball teams met in Belfast on Friday, May 17 for a showdown. 

Medomak Valley posted a 6-2 victory over the host Lions. 

With the victory, the Panthers improved its record to 9-3, while Belfast dropped to 6-5. 

Up next, Belfast will host Mount View on Saturday, May 18 at 9 a.m. 

Up next, Medomak Valley will host Mount View on Monday, May 20 at 4 p.m.

Medomak Valley collected two runs in the fourth inning, three in the sixth and one in the seventh. 

Belfast recorded a run in each the fifth and seventh frames. 

Medomak Valley had five hits and two errors, while Belfast had seven hits and four errors. 

Among those pitching for Medomak Valley were Ryan Creamer (six innings, five strikeouts), Gabe Allaire (one strikeout) and Ethan Reed. 

Working the mound for Belfast were Christopher Kelley (six innings, five strikeouts) and Dakota Payson. 

Among Belfast’s offensive contributors were Luke Hamlin (two hits) and Logan McHaney (two hits). 

Among Medomak Valley’s offensive contributors were Duncan Widdecombe (three hits, RBI), Isaac McCollett (two RBIs) and Jordan Powell (RBI).
