The community is invited to a ribbon-cutting at the Grinnell Woods Trail, 241 Rockland Road in Washington, Saturday, September 6, at 10 a.m.
The Grinnell Woods Trail has been a community project thanks to the generosity of the Grinnell Family, local businesses, and the Town of Washington and its citizens.
At a ceremony that begins at 10 a.m., the Grinnell Family will give a short introduction to their family connection with the 99-acre woods and their future plans to balance a working forest with the public hiking trail followed by an optional hike on the trail. The trail is a result of a family with dreams of having a public access trail on a beloved section of woods.
The trail begins on a wood chip path, crossing “Sandra’s Bridge” before a small rise to the Hemlock Knoll.
