Cole Anderson finishes tied for 33rd in South Carolina tournament

AIKEN, S.C. — Cole Anderson’s busy summer on the golf course continued July 24-27 in South Carolina. 

After winning the three-day Maine Amateur Championship in Falmouth on July 11, Anderson finished third in a U.S. Amateur Championship qualifying event in York on July 15. 

By finishing third, the 19-year-old Anderson narrowly missed earning his second berth in three years to the U.S. Amateur Championship, though he is the first alternate should a slot open for the North Carolina event. 

Following those two events, Anderson traveled to the southern portion of the country and competed in the 113th Southern Amateur Championship in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he finished tied for 22nd place. 

From there, he traveled to Aiken, South Carolina to participate in the Palmetto Amateur, where he finished tied for 33rd place. 

Through the tournament’s four days, Anderson shot a 71, 75, 73 and 73 for a total of 292, or eight-over-par for the tournament. 

After four years of dominating the Maine golf scene, Camden Hills graduate Cole Anderson will be looking to dominate the golf scene in Florida come this fall as a member of the Florida State University (NCAA Division I) golf team. 

Cole Anderson graduated high school in December 2018 and subsequently enrolled at the Tallahassee, Florida-based institution.
