OWLS HEAD — Claire Brickley Coffey passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at the age of 90.

Claire was born on May 1, 1931 in Malden, Massachusetts to Albert J. Brickley and Sarah McInnis Brickley. She moved to Rockland at a young age and would call the area home for the rest of her life.

Claire was a loving, social and outgoing soul who found the love of her life, the strong and soft-spoken Andrew E. Coffey. The two were a perfect complement to one another. Claire and Andy were married on December
31, 1950 and shared a life together for almost 70 years. Together they raised their two sons, Richard A Coffey and Andrew (Pete) Coffey, in Owls Head, Maine.

Claire spent her working years in the medical profession. First working for Dr. Root and later Dr. Cole in theRockland area. As with most people she met and many others around town, Claire became lifelong friends with the Roots. Her house was always welcoming, maintaining a constant stream of friends and family stopping in for a coffee and a chat.

Claire was constantly on the move throughout her life. She enjoyed painting, knitting, braiding, and gardening.

Most of all though, she loved helping others. Claire was an active member of the community and dedicated her time to others as exemplified by her work with Kno-Wal-Lin and the Owls Head Garden Club. She was incredibly giving and kind to everyone she met.

Claire was predeceased by her beloved Andrew E. Coffey and son Andrew (Pete) Coffey.

She is survived by her son, Richard Coffey and his wife Ann; grandson Bradford Coffey his wife Leslie and their children Sadie, Aria and Kylie; grandson Mark Coffey his wife Jamie and their daughter Brooklyn; and step-grandson David Nealley and his son Cash Nealley.

Family and friends are invited to visit Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the afternoon, at Burpee, Carpenter & Hutchins Funeral Home, 110 Limerock Street, Rockland. A Celebration of her life will be held immediately following at 12 noon.
