Cathy Eva (Harding) Brown, obituary
Cathy Eva (Harding) Brown passed away November 18, 2018 with her family while at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, Maine. She was born in Belfast, Maine, to Clinton Everett and Olive Mildred (Hatch) Harding on September 9, 1959.
Cathy went to Van Poland School in Waldo (now used as Waldo Town Hall), then to Morse Memorial School in Brooks and then to Mt. View in Thorndike, where she graduated from high school. Cathy also graduated from Beal College in Bangor, with an associate degree in office management.
Cathy worked for Bradbury Nursing Home, Stinson Canning Company and both poultry plants (Maplewood and Penobscot), all in Belfast. She also worked for Irving Oil in Searsport, Smith’s Log Smokehouse in Monroe and IGA in Brooks. After graduating from college, Cathy worked for the Maine State Treasury Unclaimed Property in Augusta until she retired due to her health.
Cathy was a charter member of Silver Harvest Junior Grange and then joined the Silver Harvest Subordinate Grange, the Waldo Pomona Grange, and the Maine State Grange. She held various offices in the Grange, and she enjoyed working at the Silver Harvest Grange fairs and the Potluck Suppers that were held for the public at Mystic Grange Hall in Belmont.
Cathy enjoyed knitting, crocheting, embroidery, and making patchwork quilts and pillows. She enjoyed reading and cooking for her family. She enjoyed helping her husband remodel their home, traveling by car or ‘sightsee’ all over the United States and even within the State of Maine, NASCAR racing, and watching family, adventure, and western movies.
Cathy was predeceased by her father and grandparents. She is survived by her mother and two brothers, Gilbert R. Hatch and his wife, Kelly Hatch, and Steven F. Harding, all of Waldo; her husband, Lewis Henry Brown, Jr., of Brooks; her two daughters: Christina Eve (Brown, Maddocks) Coulsey and her husband, James R. Coulsey, of Brooks; and Lucinda Helena Brown, of Belmont; and one grandson, Dominic Allen Maddocks, of Brooks and Monroe.
Cathy will be cremated and her ashes will be buried in Paul Cemetery in Waldo, Maine; the date to be determined with a spring graveside service.
A celebration of life will be held at Morrill Baptist Church on December 1, 2018 at 11 a.m. with a luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at Waldo County Home Health. Arrangements are under the care of Riposta Funeral Home, Belfast.
