Camden Snow Bowl Redevelopment Committee, Ragged Mountain Foundation hold community meeting
CAMDEN — The municipal Ragged Mountain Redevelopment Committee and the nonprofit Ragged Mountain Recreation Foundation is hosting a meeting this evening, 5:30 p.m., in the Washington Street Conference Room to talk with citizens about the Snow Bowl improvement project. The meeting includes hearing a status report and a financial review.
Snow Bowl staff will be on hand at the meeting to provide information.
Last month, the committee apprised the Camden Select Board of the project, and reported that the cost estimates had increased from $6.5 million to $8.4 million. That meant that construction of a new lodge at the Camden Snow Bowl will likely be on hold while another $1.6 million is secured and ground work at the mountain is finished. The Ragged Mountain Recreation Foundation, the nonprofit that committed to raising the larger chunk of private donations for the overhaul of the Camden Snow Bowl, would be going back to work, according to its president, Bob Gordon.
The Camden Snow Bowl and the bigger Ragged Mountain Recreation Area is owned and operated by the Town of Camden.
The Snow Bowl circulated the following email to season passholders last week:
“As part of our commitment to communicating with all stakeholders about the Camden Snow Bowl redevelopment, representatives of the Snow Bowl Redevelopment Committee, the Town, and the Ragged Mountain Foundation will hold a public meeting at the Washington Street Conference Room in the Town Office at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2. We will detail the current timeline for finishing the improvements, how town and foundation funds have been spent in long-term investments to infrastructure, and the impact of those improvements on taxpayers and our local economy. We will also leave time to answer any questions.”
The agenda for this evening meeting follows:
