    Calendar of Events at the Camden Public Library for July

    Long-Term Events:

    July 1 through July 28, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. "Wm. Francis Brown: Carver of Bellamy Eagles and Nautical Folk Art." During the month of July, the Camden Public Library will host an exhibit of gilded and painted carvings in the Picker Room Gallery by acclaimed carver William Francis Brown. The exhibit will display a sampling of Brown’s award-winning folk art, with a focus on his carvings in the iconic style of 19th century carver John Haley Bellamy of Kittery, Maine. The show will also feature some of Brown’s popular Maine and New England-based nautical and folk carvings. Visit librarycamden.org for details.

Free, donations accepted (to benefit the library). Appropriate for all ages. Moderate amount of walking required.

    Monday, July 4, 2:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. “Music By the Sea!” a Fourth of July Concert Event. The Camden Rotary Club presents its free annual Fourth of July concert event “Music By the Sea!” featuring the Casco Bay Wind Ensemble, singer/songwriter Chris Ross, and The Right Track. Audience members are invited to bring picnic blankets and camp chairs to sit on.

    Wednesday, July 6, 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Center for Wildlife Studies “Wild Maine” Series: Native and Non-native Plants of Camden Harbor. The Center for Wildlife Studies “Wild Maine” series of nature programs, in partnership with the Camden Public Library, continues in July with a guided walk through the Camden Amphitheatre and the adjacent Harbor Park. Dr. Kathy Crowley, Instructor at Center for Wildlife Studies and Assistant Professor of Plant Biology at Unity College will lead the walk and discuss the fascinating mixture of native and non-native plant species that create a diverse floral backdrop for beautiful Camden Harbor. Free with a limit of twenty-five participants.     Thursday, July 7, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Yoga Nidra: Guided Relaxation. Health and Wellness Coach Hester Kohl Brooks will facilitate Yoga Nidra in the Camden Amphitheatre on Thursday mornings. Classes are by donation. Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation that brings the body into a state of deep relaxation. It does not require holding poses or other physical exercise.     Sunday, July 17, 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sound Bathing with Gongs and Chimes. Enjoy the relaxing and transformative sound of gongs and chimes in the gorgeous setting of the Camden Amphitheatre. Musical instrument creator and Sound Therapist Jim Doble will produce waves of sound to help participants sonically cleanse, rejuvenate, rest, and recuperate in a safe environment. Doble will be joined by Forest Weston, who will play a variety of deeply resonating didgeridoos. Program is by optional donation. The Annual Garden Tour provides support for public gardens, horticultural programming and educational scholarships.
