CAMDEN — A Camden man has been released on bail after he was arrested April 28 for allegedly having unlawful sexual contact with a minor.

Lawrence Singer, D.D.S., was arrested at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office in Rockland, where he self-reported after he was notified that a warrant had been issued by the court for his arrest.

Singer is charged with one count of unlawful sexual contact with a child under the age of 12.

The alleged incident occurred in January, according to the affidavit filed in court by Camden Detective Sgt. Curt Andrick.

Singer was released from the Knox County Jail after posting $2,500 cash bail. The terms of his bail conditions include that he will not have any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16 and no contact, directly or indirectly with the victim and family.

The investigation began in early February by Andrick who turned the case over to the Knox County District Attorney’s Office for review later that month.

Attorney Christopher K. MacLean, of the Dirigo Law Group in Camden, is representing Singer. He stated in an email to Andrick Feb. 10 that, “Dr. Singer is completely appalled by the allegation and categorically denies any inappropriate behavior.”

Singer will make his initial court appearance July 12.
