Tue, 12/01/2020 - 7:45pm

The work of Camden-based artist Donald Rainville has been selected by Ambassador John L. Carwile to hang in the U.S. Embassy in Latvia as part of the Art in Embassies (AIE) program.

Ambassador Carwile selected three of Rainville’s paintings, including “Autumn’s Gate,” to hang in the American Embassy in Riga during his tenure as Ambassador. A U.S. Department of State program, AIE “creates vital cross-cultural dialogue and fosters mutual understanding through the visual arts and dynamic artist exchanges. AIE develops and presents approximately 60 exhibitions per year and has installed over 70 permanent art collections in more than 200 of the Department’s diplomatic facilities in 189 countries.”

This is the second time Rainville has exhibited in the program; previously his work was selected by Ambassador Robert Cekuta and was exhibited in Baku, Azerbaijan. Known for his action style painting of trees, Rainville is represented by the Artemis Gallery in Northeast Harbor, Leslie Curtis Design in Camden, Thomas Moser Freeport Showroom & Art Gallery, and at his studio gallery in Camden by appointment.
