Belfast baseball mercy-ruled by Brewer

BANGOR — The Belfast varsity baseball team hit the road to challenge Brewer on Monday, May 6 at Mansfield Stadium. 

Ultimately, the visiting Lions were mercy-ruled 12-2. 

The loss was the first loss of the season for Belfast, thus giving the Lions a record of 5-1. 

For its next contest, Belfast will travel to Medomak Valley on Wednesday, May 8. 

Belfast plated a run in each the fourth and fifth innings. 

Brewer tallied four runs in the second inning, three in the third and five in the fourth.

Belfast collected four hits and committed three errors. 

Brewer tallied four hits and committed one error. 

Working the mound for Brewer was Levi Williamson (four innings, five strikeouts) and Anthony Chiappone (one inning, two strikeouts). 

Among those pitching for Belfast were Christopher Kelley (two innings) and Dakota Payson (1.2 innings, two strikeouts). 

Among the offensive contributors for Belfast were Brandon Cournoyer (hit, RBI), Payson (hit) and Dylan Abbott (hit).
