Riley School
"Riley is designed to give children the most exciting academic experience possible, to show them how exciting they are, how exciting the world is, and how exciting intellectual pursuit can be." --Glenna Plaisted, Founder
Riley is an adventure in learning. Children learn by doing, by questioning, and through discovery. Children express themselves and build their self-esteem in small, integrated classes, thus developing the skills and attitudes which will help them become lifelong learners and creative, independent thinkers.
The Riley School offers a unique and creative approach to learning that honors the child’s individual timetable and where no child is left behind, nor held back from challenging themselves to reach their own fullest potential.
Riley is accredited for ages 2-14 by both the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Maine State Department of Education, and is a member of the AISNE, the Independent Schools Association of Northern New England.
Riley's campus consists of 25 acres of peaceful open fields, woods, and shore frontage. Children move between buildings for classes, read by the woodstove in the Library, perform music and plays in our Theatre, create art and pottery in the Studios, care for the animals and grow seedlings in the greenhouse, tinker and build in the woodshed and explore the woods and fields and pond.
Applications and enrollment accepted throughout the year. Scholarships available.
