"Riley is designed to give children the most exciting academic experience possible, to show them how exciting they are, how exciting the world is, and how exciting intellectual pursuit can be." --Glenna Plaisted, Founder
Riley is an adventure in learning. Children learn by doing, by questioning, and by discovery. Children express themselves and build their self-esteem in small, integrated classes, thus developing the skills and attitudes which will help them become lifelong learners and creative, independent thinkers.
The Riley School offers a unique and creative approach to learning that honors the child’s individual timetable and where no child is left behind, nor held back from challenging themselves to reach their own fullest potential.
Riley is accredited for ages 4-14 by both the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and the Maine State Department of Education, and is a member of the Independent Schools Association of Northern New England.
Riley's campus consists of 25 acres of peaceful open fields, woods, and shore frontage. Children move from class to class from a Science building, a Library, an Arts building, a Theatre, a Pottery and a Photography Studio to classes in integrated Math and Science, in Global Studies, Spanish, Photography, Language Arts and Performing Arts.
