Bay Chamber presents its 65th summer concert season
Bay Chamber presents its 65th concert series in July and August, featuring more than 50 internationally renowned artists.
Pianist Michael Stephen Brown, the winner of Bay Chamber’s 2026 Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, will open the season with three concerts, including the Opening Night Gala: Andrew Wolf Memorial Concert on Thursday, July 23, at 7 p.m., dedicated to Bay Chamber’s late co-founder, an accomplished chamber music pianist. Brown will be joined by acclaimed violinist Stephen Jackiw, in a program of Brahms, Clara Shumann, Ives and Brown.
Brown will play two additional concerts on Friday, July 24. Cello and Piano at 5:30 p.m., includes works by Debussy, Foss, Brahms and Brown and features cellist Nicholas Canellakis. Music Among Friends follows at 8 p.m., and features Mendelssohn’s magnificent Piano Trio No. 1 in D minor.
On Friday, July 31, Toomai Quintet plays two Candlelit Baroque concerts featuring Vivaldi’s virtuosic masterpiece, The Four Seasons and violin soloist Sean Lee, whose playing has been described as “breathtakingly beautiful” by the New York Times.
On Thursday, August 6, at 7 p.m., Pianist Conrad Tao, recipient of the Andrew Wolf Chamber Music Award, joins the Poiesis Quartet, Grand Prize laureates at the Banff International String Quartet Competition. The program culminates in the performance of Brahms’ magnificent Piano Quintet in F minor.
The Poiesis Quartet returns on Friday, August 7, at 5:30 p.m. with a program by three living composers – Sky Macklay, Michi Wiancko and Jeff Scott. On Friday, August 7, at 8 p.m., Conrad Tao will perform a solo concert featuring Rachmaninoff, Billy Strayhorn, Irving Berlin, and more.
The Screen Door Festival 2026 culminates the summer season from August 12 to 16, and features 18 concerts over five days, including the Mozart in the Morning series and exciting collaborations. Free outdoor concerts at the Camden Village Green return as well as many audience favorites, including jazz vocalist Vuyo Sotashe, guitarist Vinicius Gomes, Palaver Strings, cellist Arlen Hlusko, violinist Blake Pouliot, pianist Janice Carissa, the Balourdet and Viano String Quartets and more.
