ROCKLAND — Barbara Alice Moran passed away on August 2, 2021 at her home in Rockland, Maine. She was born March 5, 1952 in New York, New York to Thomas Moran and Elizabeth Russell (nee Bynum). 

Barbara grew up in Connecticut, but fell in love with Maine and made the state her home in 2002. She loved the arts, music, her garden and supporting her community through her work at Kno-Wa-Lin Hospice and Homecare and continued involvement with local charities.

Her partner, Terry La Mar, was by her side for many years of wonderful memories, and her final days at home. Barbara had visions of joining their late dog, Finn, in her final weeks. 

She is survived by her three children, Max Welsh and his wife Aimee of Yarmouth, Maine, Jesse Welsh of Norwalk, Connecticut, Anne Simson of San Francisco, California and three grandsons, Cameron, Wesley and Harrison.

She also leaves behind her siblings, Cathy Vermylen and her husband Peter, Peter Moran and his wife Heidi, David Moran and his wife Fanny, and Jim Moran and his wife Adie, along with many nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Area Interfaith Outreach, a local Rockland food pantry (PO Box 113, Rockland, Maine 04841).

A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 2 - 4 p.m., in the Barn at Primo Restaurant in Rockland, Maine. Her ashes will be spread in Penobscot Bay, at her request.
