Amy Wilton’s Red Thread art on display month of December at Art Loft

Amy Wilton, the artist in residence at the Art Loft, on Main Street in Rockland, during the month of December, will be hosting a gallery show of her body of work titled The Red Thread.  The show will be held at the Art Loft, on Friday, December 14, from 5-8 p.m.

Wilton has been a photographer in the area since she moved here in 1997 to get her MFA from Maine Media College, and is well known for her portrait, wedding and editorial photography. The Red Thread represents a new direction in Wilton’s creative life.

After having created a large-scale mixed media installation for her master’s thesis at MMC in 2001, she became a full-time photographer and put the mixed media work on hold. She has recently rekindled that passion and has created a diverse body of work ranging from sculpture to oil painting. For Wilton, the red thread is the common denominator between all of her pieces. This thread represents the gift of creativity given by the Divine. She believes that every person arrives with a gift that makes them unique and how they choose to embrace or disregard the gift, will affect the course of their lives.
