KENTS HILL — After back-to-back draws at home, the Camden Hills varsity ice hockey team traveled Tuesday, Jan. 14 to Kents Hill to challenge Maranacook/Winthrop/Madison/Spruce Mountain/Lawrence, also known as the Capital Region Hawks, and finally secured a victory.

The visiting Windjammers (6-3-2) tallied two goals in the opening period courtesy Jakob Johnson (assisted by Andrew Orne) and Charlie Griebel.

Camden Hills head coach John Magri credited the pair of goals to the team’s revamped lines.

“We had changed up our lines and they appeared to be working well as we dominated offensive zone time, created 12 shots, and scored two goals,” he said about his team’s first period performance.

Neither team would tally a score for the remainder of the contest as the Windjammers collected a 2-0 victory.

In the goalkeeper net for Camden Hills, Jackson Bernier recorded eight saves.

Camden Hills outpaced the hosts in shots 41-9.

“We could have played the game at a much faster pace with more desperation but all in all I was pleased with a win in 3 regulation periods,” said Magri.

The next game for Camden Hills will be Saturday, Jan. 25 on the road against Cony/Monmouth/Hall-Dale.
