Student art show in Rockport by professional-level artists
Event Date
Friday, July 17, 2026 - 04:00 pm to 07:00 pmThe public is invited to a special one-evening exhibition showcasing the work of artists from Carol L. Douglas's Advanced Painting Workshop on Friday, July 17, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Richards Hill Gallery, in Rockport. According to Douglas, in a news release, this annual student show offers visitors the opportunity to view an exceptional collection of contemporary landscape and representational paintings created by some of the region's most accomplished painters.
Unlike a typical student exhibition, this show features artists who have already achieved a high level of technical skill and artistic maturity. Many are award-winning painters, exhibiting artists, and professionals in their own right who have gathered to refine their craft through an intensive workshop focused on composition, color, value, and personal expression.
"The word 'student' doesn't really do these painters justice," said Douglas. "These are accomplished artists committed to continual growth. One of the great pleasures of teaching advanced workshops is watching talented painters challenge themselves, take risks, and push their work to the next level."
The exhibition reflects a wide range of artistic voices while sharing a common commitment to careful observation, strong design, and expressive brushwork. Visitors will find landscapes, coastal scenes, and other representational works interpreted through each artist's unique vision.
For workshop participants, the exhibition marks the culmination of days spent painting, discussing, critiquing, and refining their work in an atmosphere of mutual support and professional camaraderie.
"For the public, it offers a rare chance to experience a diverse collection of fresh paintings completed by artists working at a remarkably high level," said Douglas.
The show also celebrates the idea that artistic development never ends.
"Even experienced painters benefit from studying alongside peers, experimenting with new approaches, and receiving thoughtful critique," said Douglas. "The resulting work demonstrates not only technical excellence but also the excitement that comes from continued exploration."
Collectors, fellow artists, and anyone with an interest in fine art are encouraged to attend.
"Whether you're looking to add an original painting to your collection or simply enjoy an evening surrounded by exceptional artwork, the Advanced Painting Workshop Student Show promises an inspiring experience,"said Douglas.
Admission is free, and all are welcome.
