online courses available, ideas for future programs welcome

Adult Education continues at Five Town CSD

Fri, 04/10/2020 - 3:15pm

Five Town CSD Adult Education has submitted the following statement:

Like education programs all over Maine and the U.S. right now, Five Town Adult Education has been working remotely. While many enrichment classes have been postponed or canceled, remote learning with our high school completion (HiSET) and College Transitions students is continuing.

Students and teachers are engaged in meaningful work. We are scheduling intakes with new students via phone and Zoom. We are also able to provide college and career advising and all our partners within the Department of Labor are providing remote services. If you are in need of any academic services, please reach out by registering online https://fivetowns.maineadulted.org/classes/categories/academics/ or by emailing us at
adulted@fivetowns.net. These services are all free, so take advantage of some unexpected downtime and start working toward your educational goals.

Career and workforce training takes a little more time to set up, but new classes are forming. Let us know if any of our health career training options interest you. While not in-person, these courses are both live and interactive and most are already set up for blended and remote learning. Find more info at https://fivetowns.maineadulted.org/classes/

We have hundreds of online courses available from Creating WordPress Websites right through Drawing for the Absolute Beginner. Take a look at all of the options at www.ed2go.com/fivetowns/ and keep your brain engaged.

We have a few local enrichment instructors diligently working on preparing classes for online delivery. These options will soon be listed on our website, so keep checking for upcoming classes.

Our small staff of Elyse and Bev has been contacting every student for every class affected from March through June through a combination of email and phone calls. This is slow but necessary work. As one might imagine, moving all processes to a remote situation is rather difficult. There are many added steps now, but our priority is keeping everyone safe.

We can’t thank our instructors and students enough for their patience and support through all of this. We are really looking forward to the time we can again greet each other face to face.

If you would like to contact us, we are able to receive phone messages from 236-7800, option 5, or you can email us at adulted@fivetowns.net.  We also have Virtual Office Hours with either Elyse or Bev via the Zoom link posted on our website, fivetowns.maineadulted.org.  We’d love to have you ‘drop-in’ at the designated times from your phones or computer to say hi if only to see your friendly face!

Stay healthy and safe, and we will hope to see you soon!
