2025 Belfast Pride Parade to march to Heritage Park, June 7
The 2025 Belfast Pride Parade will be immediately followed by a celebration in Heritage Park, rain or shine, Saturday, June 7. Belfast Area High School’s Gender and Sexuality Alliance Group (GSA) is organizing and leading the parade.
The group says the more the merrier for marching and asks participants to gather at BAHS beginning at 10:30 a.m., according to Our Town Belfast, in a news release. Marching begins promptly at 11 a.m. The route travels from the high school, along Waldo Avenue to Main Street, and will end with a celebration filled with pizza, music, and dancing in Heritage Park.
June is nationally recognized as Pride Month and throughout Maine, there are parades and festivals planned despite the growing tensions across the nation, as states pass restrictions on the LGBTQ+ community.
“Our Town Belfast is committed to our mission and values to create an inclusive place that is inviting and welcoming to everyone. We are incredibly grateful, thankful, and proud of the students who organize the parade and continue to stand up and speak out, so everyone is seen,” said Amanda Cunningham, Executive Director of Our Town Belfast.
This event is again being sponsored by the Belfast Community Co-op.
Parade participants will be joined in Heritage Park by OUT Maine, Planned Parenthood, But Still I am One, and Out in the Open. If your organization would like to have a table please contact OTB Executive Director Amanda Cunningham at director@ourtownbelfast.org. If you would like to contribute to the celebration with a donation or by volunteering, please reach out. To march in the parade, be at Belfast Area High School beginning at 10:30 a.m. or jump in along the route.
