American Legion recognizes Rockport inn for patriotism




ROCKPORT — The Camden American Legion Post No. 30 continues to recognize local business as recipients of a Certificate of Recognition for Proper American Flag Display.
Glen Cove Inn and Suites was recognized Sept. 1 for showing their patriotism by flying the flag at the front entrance to the inn.
Owner Matt Barter said he has been displaying the flag to show that he is proud to be an Amercian. He added that many of the guests at the inn comment about how nice it is to see the flag displayed.
The Legion initiated this new community based program in May that recognizes a difference business each month within the community for proper display of the American Flag.
“We are continuing this recognition program so we can encourage more local businesses to participate by recognizing them,” said Jeff Sukeforth, Post Adjutant and Legionnaire member.
To date, the Legion has recognized Bangor Savings, Adventure Advertising and Camden Closeline.
The American Legion is the world’s largest Veteran’s organization with a support group of more than 2.5 members. “Still Serving America” is the motto of the American Legion with veterans continuing their service to America by serving their communities. The American Legion is the nation’s largest and most respected organizations of wartime veterans, according to a press release from Sukeforth.
