Three in Waldo County charged with stealing, cashing checks
STOCKTON SPRINGS — Waldo County Sheriff’s Deputy Merl Reed charged three people with theft following an investigation into stolen checks, one of which was allegedly cashed at a local bank for $2,5000.
Reed began the investigation Dec. 17, when the Waldo County Dispatch Center received a report of stolen checks from a residence in Stockton Springs. According to a press release, Reed learned from interviewing the victims that they had discovered several checks missing from their home.
After following up with the bank, and conducting more interviews, Reed arrested Tyler Hills, 20, of Frankfort, on Dec. 17 and charged him with class C theft. Later that day, he interviewed and then also arrested Devin O’Brien, 19, of Stockton Springs, and charged with him class B burglary and class C theft.
Reed also arrested Kayla McCauley, 20, of Monroe, and charged her with class C theft.
Hills, O’Brien and McCauley were all transported to Waldo County Correctional Center, where they each posted bail and were released from custody. They all have pending court dates it the coming months, according to the release.
