Cyril Miller: Medomak wrestler strong at New England tournament










PROVIDENCE, R.I. — Senior Medomak Valley wrestler Cyril Miller grappled in his final high school match this past weekend, qualifying to go to Rhode Island and participate in the New England tournament.
March 7 Miller lost his first match, 10-4, to Dominic Liquori from Westfield, Mass. Miller then won his second match, with Christopher Hayes from Cumberland, R.I., by injury default
The following morning, March 8, Miller took on Malik Geiger from Oxford Hills and won by decision, 2-0. In his match with Devon MarcAurele from Ledyard, Conn., he won by injury default, then he lost by technical-fall, 16-0, to Dovydas Simankis of Farmington, Conn.
Miller finished the tournament 3-2 and scored eight team points, placing Medomak Valley 73rd out of 160 schools.
On the season Miller was at the top of his class, 43-7. Of those wins, 28 came from pins and he scored 262 points for the team, all first place finishes to lead the team. He also set school records in career wins (133-39) and career pins (78) while finishing his high school wrestling career with 743 career points. Miller won the regional in his weight class and finished second in states.
