Ralph M. Dunton, obituary
CAMDEN — Ralph Miller Dunton, 81, passed away Feb. 24, 2014, at his home in Camden. Born in Rockland March 26, 1932, he was the son of Mark and Lillian (Miller) Dunton and grew up in Camden.
On Aug. 17, 1952, he married Retha Hills at the First Congregational Church in Camden. As a young man, Ralph went to work driving a taxi for Quigley's Taxi Service and then as a caretaker for the Rich family at Richmont in Camden. His other employment included driving trucks for the town of Camden, Lime Products in Union, Dragon Cement, Bumble Bee Construction and at Marriner's Paving Company.
An independent person who enjoyed keeping busy, Ralph collected and built truck models and liked working with his hands. He looked forward to hiking the Camden Hills, riding his bicycle and camping with his family.
He was predeceased by his wife, Retha Hills Dunton, who died in 2003. Surviving is his son, Jim Dunton of Rockwood; three daughters, Judy Swift and her husband, Charlie, and Diane Dunton, all of Camden, and Kathleen Robitaille and her husband, Chris, of Owls Head; five grandchildren, Jaime Perkins, Carla Perkins, Rosemary Booth and her husband, Jayson, Isaac Robitaille and Marcus Robitaille; four great-grandchildren, Nathan Dunton, Kaleb Booth, Gabriella Booth, and Ashley Lowe; and a brother, Richard Dunton and his wife, Nedilina, of Ohio.
A service will be announced in the spring.
