Midcoast Community Chorus presents Sing OUT!
ROCKPORT — The Midcoast Community Chorus (MCC) will return to the stage with Sing OUT! - a vibrant and uplifting concert celebrating community, harmony, inclusion, and LGBTQIA+ pride. The performance will take place Thursday, June 12, 2025, at 7 p.m., at the Strom Auditorium at Camden Hills Regional High School in Rockport.
This year’s concert is a benefit for OUT Maine, a nonprofit that is headquartered in Rockland and dedicated to supporting, empowering, and advocating for LGBTQIA+ youth. MCC will present OUT Maine a grant of $5,000 during the concert that will help this organization continue its work creating safe, welcoming spaces and resources for queer and trans youth across the state.
Artistic Director Kim Murphy and accompanist Matt Mainster will lead more than 100 singers and local musicians in a diverse lineup of inspiring music, including classic songs like Bridge Over Troubled Waters and What The World Needs Now Is Love, and more contemporary young composers like Connor Warren Smith and Kyle Pederson.
“At MCC, all are welcome and we believe music has the power to bring people together. We chose the title Sing OUT! as a nod to vocal music and as a call to action,” said Anna Jones, MCC executive director, in a news release. “This concert is a celebration of belonging and joyful resistance to prejudice. We will build bridges of harmony, both metaphorically and literally through song.”
Tickets are $20 and $30 and are available at The Grasshopper Shop in Rockland, The Green Store in Belfast, and online at mccsings.org/tickets.
