Shane Richardson, obituary
SOUTH THOMASTON - Shane Richardson, 42, passed away suddenly Oct. 25, 2013, holding the hands of his wife and mother. He was born Aug. 6, 1971, at Camden Hospital in Camden, and later attended the Rockland School District.
With salt water in his blood, Shane spent his life working the water like his father, brother, grandfather and uncles. He fished scallops, lobster, eels and shrimp, and worked at North Atlantic Products in Rockland. His life became complete Nov. 25, 1995, with the joining of Jane and Shane in loving marriage.
Shane loved being on the water, taking his dog out on the town, and affectionately aggravating his other half, Jane. Everyone knew Shane as loving and generous, but terribly stubborn. He was a great story teller, and was always there for his mother, especially during the painful loss of his father, Steve Sr. Not a day passed without Shane telling his “Mumma” that he loved her. Although their personalities were as opposite as can be, Shane shared a special bond with his brother, Stevie. Shane took his dogs everywhere, slipping them the occasional burger or slice of bacon, and never kept a dollar in his pocket, preferring to give away everything he had to his family and friends.
Shane Richardson is survived by his true love, best friend and wife, Jane Richardson (McKay); his brother, Steven Richardson Jr.; his mother, Diana "Rene" (Eagan) Richardson; his nieces and nephews, Steven III and Haley Richardson, all of South Thomaston, and Aidan, Liam and Mila Fensie of Northport; his great-niece, Isabella Richardson of South Thomaston; his aunt and uncle, Katy and Wesley Callahan of South China; his cousins, Sonny and Billie Jo Robinson, Joe Barboza, Bonnie and Tom Mackie of South Thomaston, Shelley Ellis of Thomaston, and Howard "Champ" Anderson of Tenants Harbor; his in-laws, John and Leslie McKay of Hope, Jason McKay of Gorham, Paulette and Ben Mastio of Albuquerque, N.M., and Anne and Philippe Fensie of Northport; his extended family, including best man and best friend, Ronald "Bub" Jackson, “sister” Tammy Jackson, and their parents, Ronnie and Brenda Jackson, all of South Thomaston, and all the other Jacksons that were his second family; his close friends, Matt and Kellie Mackie of South Thomaston, and Ricky Carter and Kristen Hilchey of Thomaston; too many friends to specify; and his dogs, Willie Nelson and Harry Johnny Cash.
He was welcomed to Heaven by his beloved father, Steven Richardson Sr., on the third anniversary of his death. He is joined in everlasting life with family, Robert "Uncle Bobby” Richardson, Harry and Linnie Richardson, Earl and Evelyn Peters, Dorothy and Francis Richardson, and Louise and Harold Black; his friend, Timmy Whiticomb; and dogs Bear, Logan and Jack Elvis Presley.
Shane's wishes were to be an organ donor and have his remains cremated, with no funeral service.
Because Shane wanted everyone to be comfortable, the family has set up a fund to provide a recliner in the private family room of SCU #3 at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
