DAMARISCOTTA — Ruth A. Corlis, 66, died peacefully in Damariscotta, following a long illness, Aug. 31, 2013.

Born in Hartland Nov. 18, 1946, she was the daughter of Clarence and Elva Richards. Ruth was raised in Massachusetts and Maine.

For many years Ruth was employed at Hannaford and the Navigator in Rockland. She was an active member of the Thomaston Assembly of God Church, where she enjoyed Bible studies every Wednesday night.

She was an avid crafter and loved crocheting blankets for all of her grandchildren. Ruth also had an extensive collection of angels and took great pleasure in bird watching.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

Ruth is survived by her children, Cindy Corlis of New Hampshire, Kenneth Corlis of Rockland, Jean Corlis of Waldoboro, Deborah Corlis of Rockland, Robert Corlis of New Hampshire and Rachael Collins of Damariscotta; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Sharon Ruiz of Worcester, Mass., and Sam Richards.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. at Gods Lighthouse Church on South Main Street in Rockland.
