MIDCOAST — The Babe Ruth baseball season continued this past week in the Midcoast. 

This season, the Midcoast Babe Ruth Baseball League consists of five teams: Waldoboro (representing the RSU 40 area), Rockland Ford (representing the RSU 13 area), Granite Coast (representing a portion of the Five Towns area), P.G. Willey (representing a portion of the Five Towns area) and Damariscotta Lions.

Schedule Changes

Damariscotta Lions at Waldoboro game from June 17 will be played Sunday, June 27 at 1 p.m. at Begley Field. The Granite Coast at Waldoboro Game at Begley Field is scheduled for 3 p.m. but will likely begin 30 minutes after the first game has been completed. 

The June 29 game between Waldoboro and Damariscotta Lions will now be played at Lincoln Academy at 5:30 p.m.

Rockland Ford (4-1) was handed its first loss in a nine inning thriller against Waldoboro (3-1).

Waldoboro plated two runs in the third inning, one in the fourth inning, two in the fifth inning, one in the eighth inning and one in the ninth inning. 

Rockland Ford plated one run in the first inning, two in the fourth, two in the sixth and one in the eighth. 

Waldoboro tallied seven hits and committed two errors while Rockland Ford recorded nine hits and tallied four errors. 

At the plate for Waldoboro were Josh Blake (single, run, game winning RBI), Aaron Reed (single, run), Porter Gahagan (double, two runs), Issac Simmons (single, double, run, two RBI), Samuel Moody (single), Kyle Smith (single, RBI), Aidyn Herring (run), Jaiden Starr (run) and Eli Pluecker (double). 

At the plate for Rockland Ford were Taygan McAllister (two singles, three RBI, run), Gilbert Philbrook (double), Gavin Ripley (two singles, RBI), Dylan Winslow (run), Dominic Frisone (single, run), Bryson Mattox (run), Kavie Maloney (single, run) and Blade Brann (two singles, run, RBI). 

Working the mound for Waldoboro were Smith, Simmons and Gahagan. 

Working the mound for Rockland Ford were Mattox, Ripley and Philbrook.
