Theodore J. Hedstrom, charity info, obituary

Mon, 03/01/2021 - 7:15pm

CAMDEN — Theodore John Hedstrom, 14, beloved son, brother, and friend passed away at 1 a.m. on Thursday, February 25, 2021 in a house fire.

Theodore was born March 17, 2006 in Rockport, Maine. From the very start, Theodore was the gentlest of souls. He was so affectionate to his family, friends, and everyone in his life, always with a kind word, a gentle touch, or an understanding smile and look.  People were drawn to Theodore because of this.  He was a model of how to live life for all of us, even his elders. Theodore was wise beyond his years.

Theodore loved animals, and animals sensed his gentle nature. All the family pets were drawn to him; even snakes and turtles Theodore caught in the wild were quickly calm with him.

Theodore loved hockey, baseball, golf, fishing, and playing cards with his brothers and sister. He was a great teammate and friend. He was the first to welcome a new teammate or classmate to make them feel comfortable, in his own quiet and confident way.

Theodore was a favorite brother to all his siblings.  There is no greater testament to his kindness than the fact that those who were closest to him all loved him the most.

Theodore will be missed and mourned for the rest of our lives.

He predeceased by grandfathers, H. Dexter Hedstrom, and Phillip Connors.

Surviving are his parents, Thomas A. Hedstrom and Carrie F. Connors; grandmothers, Kathleen Hedstrom, and Kathleen Connors; brothers, Connor, Brady, Cameron and Nicolas; and sister, Pearl; aunts and uncles John and Nancy Smoley, Joanna and Steve Suomi, Chris and Holly Hedstrom, Mike and Meghan Hedstrom, Kate and Chris Orbon, Jill and Cory Schneider, and a special great-aunt, Mary Terese Schelble.

There will be a “drive-in” Celebration of his Life at 12 noon, Saturday, March 6, 2021 at the Owls Head Transportation Museum parking lot.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, Boston Burn Care Unit. www.donate.lovetotherescue.org . Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.longfuneralhomecamden.com.

Arrangements are with the Long Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 9 Mountain Street, Camden.
