PORT CLYDE — Jon Mort Open Studio 2020 “Begin Again” will take place August 1 - 16, by appointment, and presented with the greatest possible consideration of collective health and safety.
Mort continues his annual summer tradition of welcoming visitors (by individual appointment to assure social distancing) into his post and beam Port Clyde studio to share his latest original and print creations.
“Jon is a widely recognized American artist acclaimed for his startlingly realistic and uniquely composed colored pencil renderings and strikingly distinctive portraits,” said a news release. “He combines twin passions for history and science in his art by exploring their impact on the human narrative.”
Mort’s artwork has been presented in over 20 major exhibitions, including the Phillips Museum, the Portsmouth Museum of Art, and the Sandy Spring Museum. He is the featured artist – along with his father, Greg – in the Island Institute’s 2020 Island Journal magazine and his work is frequently presented in Art Collector Magazine and the Temper Art Review.
Summer activities include co-chairing and contributing to Trekkers International 2020 Art Auction.
Somerville Manning Gallery and Massoni Art Gallery represent Mort’s artwork worldwide, according to the release.
