SEARSMONT — Oscar H. Bryant Sr., 91 of Searsmont, passed away peacefully at Sussman House in Rockport from COPD.

He was born January 20, 1929 to Josiah Simmons Bryant and Carrie E. (Jackson) Bryant.

Oscar enlisted in the Army in 1951 and served during the Korean War. Once he returned home, he became a self-taught carpenter and settled on new home construction which he seemed to have a passion for and continued to do so for many years.

He was predeceased by his son, Oscar Bryant Jr.; the mother of his son, Winniford (Armstrong) Bryant; and sisters Agnes Fuller, Delora Peaslee and Goldie Peaslee.

Oscar is survived by his sisters, Lucille Gorham and Beverly Olson; grandchildren Morgan Bartlett and Jeff Bryant; several nieces and nephews; special friends Sylvia Morrill, Teresa Crosby, Mark and Colleen Otis, Wally Heath, Alvin Pease, Bruce and Mark Ray and the Peabody Family to name only a few.

The one thing Oscar wanted most was to be able to stay at home as his health deteriorated – the home he built and was so proud of. This was made possible by his nephew, Nate Peaslee, and Nate's wife, Debbie, who made him comfortable until the end.

A very special thank you to the home health care providers and Hospice.

There will be no service at this time. A gathering of family and friends will be announced at a later date.
