CUSHING — Janice Marie Ifemey, 78, passed away with her loving family by her side on May 29, 2020 in Rockport, Maine.

Janice was born on August 17, 1941 in Rockland, Maine to parents Ernest DeMass and Lucille Hupper DeMass.

Janice attended local schools and was in the graduating class of 1960 of the Thomaston High School. Janice met her soulmate, Arthur Ifemey, while a sophomore in high school and at her passing they had celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary. Janice enjoyed working and was employed at Wallace’s Market in Friendship, G.T.E. Sylvania in Waldoboro for 7 years, a waitress and cook at the family’s Ifemey’s Diner in Thomaston, The Samoset Resort in Rockport along with Dorman’s Ice Cream in Thomaston.

Janice was a longtime member of the Thomaston Baptist Church, a past president of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, past member of the Mystic Lodge of Rebekah’s in Warren, and a past Chief Matriarch of L.E. A. of Warren.

Her family says that Janice so enjoyed sewing and she also loved going on trips with Art as well as camping during the summers. She will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

Janice was predeceased by her parents as well as her sister Marie Brann and her brother Richard DeMass.

Janice is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, of Cushing, Maine; her son Richard and Iris Ifemey of Concord, New Hampshire.; her brother Ronald ( Judy) Brann of Cushing; her sisters Carolyn (Gerald) Grierson of Spruce Head, Karen Yattaw of Spruce Head, Susan (Donald) Bickford of New Harbor, and Diane ( John) Elwell of Spruce Head. She is also survived by her grandchildren Carissa, Benjamin, and Jasmine Ifemey, all of Concord, New Hampshire.

A Graveside Memorial Service will be held for Janice on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 10 a.m., at the Thomaston Village Cemetery, Erin St. Thomaston, Maine. Rev. Wayne Sawyer will officiate.
