Alzheimer’s Association to begin online education programs
The Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter will begin offering education programs online amid the COVID-19 outbreak as the association continues to pursue its mission. While the Alzheimer’s Association staff is working remotely, operations will continue to support the organization’s mission.
Based on guidance from local public health agencies, the chapter is replacing all in-person community programs with web-based educational programs. These no-cost programs feature information on a variety of dementia related topics available statewide.
During the month of April more than 20 free community webinars are offered and include Understanding Alzheimer’s & Dementia, Effective Communication Strategies, Understanding & Responding to Dementia Related Behaviors, Dementia Conversations: Legal & Financial Planning, Living with Early Stage Alzheimer’s, Safety & Memory Challenges, Providing Late Stage Care, Healthy Living for Your Brain & Body, and more.
“The health and safety of our constituents, volunteers, and staff are the top priority during the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Drew Wyman, director of Communications of the Alzheimer’s Association, Maine Chapter, in a news release. “We are committed to delivering our mission and these community webinars enable Mainers to get crucial information and resources from the safety of their homes.”
The Alzheimer’s Association’s 24/7 Helpline 800.272.3900 is fully operational, and is available for around-the-clock care and support. Through this free service, specialists and master’s-level clinicians will continue to offer confidential support and information to people living with the disease, caregivers, family members, and professionals.
