NORTHPORT — The Town of Northport is putting four ordinance amendments in front of its citizens in early June. 

The four proposed ordinance amendments pertain to the harbor ordinance, special amusement ordinance, administrative ordinance and building ordinance.

The municipal election will be Saturday, June 1, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Town Hall. 

The annual Town Meeting will be Monday, June 3, at 7 p.m. at the Edna Drinkwater School. 

There are several proposed harbor ordinance amendments with proposed amendments pertaining to the potential delegation of Harbor Master duties to deputies, how many members will serve on the harbor committee and when alternate members may vote, language about commercial use of facilities, and fees vessel owners may incur when seeking an approved mooring permit. 

There are several proposed amendments to the special amusement ordinance, though a portion of the proposed amendments are cosmetic changes to make the ordinance easier to read. 

The other proposed amendments for the special amusement ordinance add in permit classifications the Board of Selectmen will use when issuing permits. The amendment also adds language regarding the permitting process and when a permit may be suspended or revoked. 

The proposed amendment to the administrative ordinance pertains to the terms of the harbor committee members. The proposed change would have harbor committee members serve staggered two year terms. 

The lone proposed amendment to the building ordinance is adding to Section 7 “Code Enforcement Officer Permits” that demolition must be completed within one year of the date the permit was issued.
