Three seek open Thomaston select board seat in special election
THOMASTON — Thomaston voters will choose one of three declared candidates at the end of August for the town’s open select board seat.
Thomaston voters will head to the polls Tuesday, Aug. 27, to elect a replacement for Beverly St. Clair, who resigned from her select board seat June 12.
Candidates returning nomination papers were Zel Bowman-Laberge, Charles Frattini and Diane Giese.
Frattini sought a select board seat during the June election that saw voters reelect Bill Hahn to the board and elected Sandra Moore as Peter McCrea’s replacement on the board.
The term will fill the Select Board vacancy expiring 2021.
“It is with regret I respectfully submit my resignation from the position of Selectwoman effective immediately,” St. Clair wrote in her resignation letter.
“I will just say that there are many unanswered questions here in Thomaston,” she wrote in an emailed statement to penbaypilot.com. “I guess at this point, I have more questions than answers.”
At its regular select board meeting June 24, the remaining select board members accepted her resignation and established the special election timeline that included a July 1-19 nomination window.
The election will be held from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.
