Oceanside Middle School students make trails in Thomaston
On June 11, Oceanside Middle School (OMS) and Sidecountry Sports worked with Georges River Land Trust in the Thomaston Forest for activities day. Ten student volunteered to ride bikes from the school to the Booker St. trailhead where the new mountain bike trail is being built. These ten students worked for a total five hours and cleared roughly a mile of trail. They cleared a corridor about five foot wide, moved brush, and cut down branches and trees. With the support of Sidecountry Sports and Georges River Land Trust they will create four miles of trail this year with a plan to continue building for the future. If you would like to support the efforts in the Thomaston Forest please reach out to John Anders at Georges River Land Trust. The Midcoast chapter of the New England Mountain Bike Association along with SCS and GRLT as partners in developing the trails Thank you, students, for you hard work, dedication, and spirit.
