You know you live in a small community when a resident reports a fire by texting the fire chief directly, as occurred recently in Camden.

On Tuesday evening the No. 1 Swan Lake Grocery hosted No. 2 Georges Valley in the Midcoast Babe Ruth League championship game at Oceanside West in Thomaston. 

The District 2 Little League 9-10 softball tournament opened Monday night in Waldoboro with the Medomak team taking a 19-8 four-inning mercy rule win over Oceanside. 

The Midcoast Babe Ruth League is hosting the District 2 Babe Ruth tournament in Thomaston this weekend.

THOMASTON — The prelude to the 5K was the Firecracker one mile Kids Fun Run. Always a good group of kids running and so fun to watch.

THOMASTON — The water hose was working and the runners were fast at Monday’s Firecracker 5K. Over 100 walkers and runners participated in the race.

ROCKPORT — The No. 8 Camden Babe Ruth team hosted No. 9 Wiscasset Bay in a prelim playoff game Thursday night at the Marge Jones Complex ending the Wiscasset team’s season with a  15-5 win. 

Georges Valley hosted Camden Tuesday in their final regular season game defeating them 17-8 to finish the season in second place.

ROCKLAND — The District 2 Little League 9-10 baseball pre-tournament exhibition games started Saturday with the four team from Oceanside LL, Five Town LL, Lincoln County LL and Waldo County LL. 

WALDOBORO — The District 2 9-10 softball Little League playoff season got underway Saturday at John Foster Field with two games.

Rockland Cafe scored seven runs in the first inning and added 12 more in the fourth to cruise to a 20-3 win over Wiscasset Bay in Midcoast Babe Ruth league action.
