William F. Collyer, obituary
CUSHING — William F. “Bill” Collyer, 72, died unexpectedly Oct. 5, 2015, at his home.
Born in Boston, Mass., on Jan. 21, 1943, he was the son of Frederick F. and Helen Hoyt Collyer. While growing up in East Boston, he attended local schools and was a graduate of East Boston High School.
He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps shortly after graduating and served a four-year enlistment. He later served two years with the Marine Corps Reserve.
Upon his honorable discharge from active duty, Bill returned to live in Winthrop, Mass. He was employed many years as a Teamsters Union warehouse man and for a period served as shop steward of his local union.
On Nov. 8, 1969, he married Alice J. MacCormack in Brighton, Mass. The couple made their home in Winthrop fpr more than 30 years, until moving to Dracut. They retired to Maine in 2007.
Bill was an ardent Boston sports fan. More than anything, he devoted himself to his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
He particularly loved his constant companions, a black Labrador, Reggie, and his cat, Mooch.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by his sister, Gail Mariano. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice of Cushing, his daughter, Tamara A. Collyer and her companion, Jonathan A. Baggs, of Winthrop, Mass.; a brother, Daniel H. Collyer and his wife, Cindy, of Williamstown, Mass.; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Private interment will be in Norton Cemetery in Cushing.
